During the Covid lockdowns, spending so much time at home, I needed to find a way to work quick and small on a little home desk, so I did lots of drawings, but also started trying out watercolours.

And I fell into this series of “goddess” paintings, or as I prefer to call them, “fat lady” paintings.
At first I was using the Venus of Willendorf as my main model, but then I happened on this little figurine found in Turkey by archeologists – they think she’s about 8000 years old.



And then I thought to bring the theme into the modern world, I’d look at some of those body positive influencers on Instagram, and use them as a contemporary counterpoint…



And bit by bit, as I got used to the watercolours, I thought well let’s try the watercolours on some animals…
